Sunny :)

At last, the sun is out, I believe it won't be for very long, so today Stefan and I have been pretty busy.
This morning we went out into the garden to see how our little garden is growing.
It does look rather sorry for itself and most of the leaves have been attacked by frost, even though it was covered through most of the bad weather.

We replanted and replaced seeds that needed replacing or that hadn't grown yet, and gave it a good watering.
Amazingly, even though we have had huge amounts of rain in the last while, the beds were both pretty dry.

And on to some really cool news - I eventually have my own colony of bees :)
Yesterday I went up to my Beekeeper friend as they had had 3 or 4 swarms.
They were all in the grass, and the only thing we could do was to place the swarm boxes close by and hope for the best.

This morning I went over there and I was allowed to have a swarm for myself, how exciting is that?
The beekeeper has kindly allowed me to use one of his hives for the moment, until I have set myself up, which is perfect as I am still very wet behind the ears in this regard, and it is wonderful to be able to have the support and know-how close by should I need it, and I am guessing I will!

This is my healthy swarm, weighing in a 2,5 kg :)
How is your gardening going?
See you soon

  1. Congratulation on your first swarm! how exciting, do you know approximately how much honey you will get.
Having a few days of sun here but it's still not very warm. Don't think I will ever get Basil to grow. 3 juicy strawberries so far.
Popping over to Marigold's Loft now as I have a question about your sock pattern.
    Bye.
